Does your child want to dive into the world of gaming and computers? The best way to start their journey into the digital world is through the School of Gaming's Level 1 - Gaming Club for Beginners. In this club children learn the basics of using a computer, digital citizenship skills, digital safety, and get to try age-appropriate games under the guidance of a skilled educator. The gaming club teaches healthy and balanced gaming habits right from the first steps.
The game educator for our beginner gamers is a trained adult professional who has completed School of Gaming's training and is familiar with early childhood education.
The purpose of this group is to serve as a springboard into our other game clubs. Within a few months, the gamer will start to form their own player identity and gain sufficient skills to continue their hobby in other game clubs.
In Level 1 - Gaming Club for Beginners, children try out various free games, discuss the emotions these games evoke, learn to use the keyboard and mouse, and try a bit of programming. Each participant receives a Minecraft Education license, which opens the doors to a wide range of educational game content. The contents of Minecraft Education provide excellent and safe game entertainment between club sessions, and children can practice the skills learned in the club on their own time.
The gaming club for beginners is intended for the youngest gamers in the family. The recommended age group is 6-8 years. In this club, there is no need to know how to use a computer or keyboard. Knowing letters will make things easier. The club is slightly more expensive than our other lessons because we keep the group size small to ensure the game educator has time to guide each child individually.
The club meets weekly. Missed sessions can be made up by joining any other similar session during the week. Each 90-minute session includes a physical activity break. In all our clubs, we teach healthy gaming habits and the basic skills of digital citizenship.
The club meets online on the Discord platform, which you can download for free from the internet or an app store. To participate in the club, you will also need a computer with Minecraft Education installed. The license is included in the club fee.
Since we operate online, your child's online safety is of utmost importance to us. We provide instructions on how you, as a parent, can ensure your child's online safety, and we do everything possible on our end to keep your child safe.
Each group is led by a trained professional in game education. Game instructors, or "gedus," provide a safe and positive gaming environment for gamers. They can always be reached via email or phone.
Participating in the club requires some initial setup, but you have the support of the server attendants in the Lounge and the office staff. Once the system is set up, the gaming club is "the easiest hobby ever," as one of our customers said. You don't have to drive your child anywhere, bake chocolate chip cookies, or argue about whether to go to the club this week. All our gamers eagerly await the weekly gaming club.
In addition to the weekly gaming club, your child can join our safe gaming community. We have zero tolerance for toxicity and bullying. Our moderators have eyes and ears everywhere and we have strict procedure against all bullying.
On club days, gamers can participate in casual conversations in the Lounge, and the Lounge team is always there to help if you have any issues with the computer, game, or subscription. Our gaming community always has someone to play and chat with. We also organize various community events and challenges almost weekly, to which your gamer is warmly welcome to participate.
